DAVENPORT - Verne "Buzz" Hitt, 71, of Davenport died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Genesis West Medical Center. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 17, 2008, at 10 a.m. at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Buzz was born November 21, 1936, in Moscow, Iowa, the son of James and Rose (Mingee) Hitt. He was a crane operator, working at Rock Island Steel and Howard Steel for more than 45 years. He was a member of the Davenport Moose Lodge and Iron Worker's Union. In his earlier years, he enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. Buzz never knew a stranger and was a devoted Dad, Grandpa and friend.
Those left to honor his memory include daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Hall; sons, Jeff (Shelly) Hitt and Ron Hitt; grandchildren, Heidi, Michelle, Nikolos, Breanna, Hailey, Hunter, Natalie and Aaron; and great-grandchildren, Shannon, Emmie, Tyson, Alec, Averie, Kameron and one on the way.
His parents, great-granddaughter, Alexandria, and his sister, Audrey White, preceded him in death.
