A native of Gainesville, Ga., she was a daughter to the late Mell Charles and Woodie Pearl Waters Fraser. She worked for many years as a licensed practical nurse at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church since 1933, where she was also a member of the Margie Weaver Sunday School Class. Mrs. Putnam was a member of the Caring and Sharing Home Demonstration Club and enjoyed painting with oil and watercolors, knitting, tatting and quilting. She was a devoted wife and mother.
In addition to her parents, husband, of almost 65 years, Foy B. Putnam Jr.; brothers, Meldean and Clyde Fraser; granddaughter, Joyce Putnam; and stepmother, Minnie Strickland Fraser preceded her in death.
She is survived by five sons, Harris Putnam and wife, Hazel, Dean Putnam and fiancée, Janice Hill, and Todd Putnam and wife, Roxanne, all of Shelby, Gary Putnam and wife, Kit, of Arlington, Va., and Kenny Putnam of Newport News, Va.; a brother, McHoyt Fraser and wife, Nell, of Shelby; a sister, Ruby Bailey, of Charlotte; a sister-in-law, Jane Jolly, of Shelby; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Celebration of life, Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church
Visitation: The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church after the service.
