Delores Kay Hamilton-McLane
Delores Kay Hamilton-McLane, 61, of Frankston passed from this life June 12, 2011.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, presided by the Rev. Msgr. Joseph Strickland, JCL, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Holy rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church.
Delores was born Dec. 12, 1949, in Crockett. She was the daughter of the late Odie A. Hamilton and Ruth Whitehead. She was raised in Houston, and graduated from the Sacred Heart Dominican College in 1973 with a BSRN. Shortly thereafter she joined the United States Army, where she was a first lieutenant, fulfilled her duties and received an honorable discharge.
Delores pursued a lifetime in the field of nursing, finding her greatest joy to be in the operating room. Yet, she worked in many aspects of the field, including: house supervisor in hospitals, home health, nursing homes and public health, and travel nursing in Green Bay, Wis., San Francisco, Calif., New Orleans, La., and Gulfport, Miss. In recent times she volunteered her skills as a nurse at The Salvation Army, and the Bethesda Health Clinic. She also was a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, of which she was also a member.
She was preceded in death by her father, Odie Hamilton.
Survivors include husband, Joe McLane of Frankston; mother, Ruth Butler of Grapeland; son, Randy McLane of Longview; daughter, Heather McLane of Frankston; and brothers, Terry Hamilton of Grapeland and Hank Hamilton of Cecil, Wis.
