Leva Joy Scott.

Leva Joy Scott, 83, died Saturday evening, June 11, 2011, at her home southeast of Gould with all four of her sons at her side. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, with the Rev. Ralph Chapman officiating. Burial will follow services at the Liberty Cemetery, southeast of Gould. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Leva Joy Aldridge was born on Oct. 10, 1927, in Carl, Okla., to John Calvin and Angie Lanora (Ellis) Aldridge. She graduated from Vinson High School in 1946. She married Wiley Luther Scott on July 4, 1948, in Carl. They enjoyed life together in Hollis, Lawton and Frederick, before moving to the family farm, southeast of Gould in 1978. They raised their four sons in these various locations. Leva Joy was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Frederick and later the Gould First Baptist Church, where she served on the Hostess Committee for many years. She was a member of the LaHoma Home Extension Club during the late 70s, 80s and 90s, where she consistently entered exhibits in the Harmon County Fair. The Scotts were involved in the Band Parents organization at Frederick and Leva Joy served as a very creative and energetic Cub Scout den mother for all four sons. She also assisted with numerous 4-H and FFA projects. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, gardening, cooking and the lost art of letter writing. Leva Joy was a dedicated homemaker, farm wife and caregiver to loved ones.

Leva Joy was preceded in death by her parents, John Calvin and Angie Lanora Aldridge; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Lela Scott; and husband, Wiley Luther Scott.

She is survived by four sons, Edward Ray Scott and his wife Vicki, of Grand Prairie, Texas, David Scott and his wife Lana of Altus, Neal Kent Scott of Norfolk, Va., and Timothy Scott and his partner Marlon Breaux of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Florence Cochrane and Arabella Pace, both of Yuba City, Calif., and Veda Aldridge of Hollis; four grandchildren, Chris Scott and his wife Teresa, Mike Scott and his wife Laura, Kristina Scott and Kaci Scott; and three great-grandchildren, Trenton, Tagen and Tory.
