SAILORS, Doreen, a resident of Montgomery, AL passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010. A brief graveside service for the family will be held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2010 at 1 p.m. in Alabama Heritage Cemetery with a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Sailors was preceded in death by her father, Sidney Hawley and mother Phyllis Demings Hawley, both of Morecombe, England.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry L. Sailors; children, Jerry L. Sailors, Jr (Dawn), of Liberty, N.C., Susan M. Sailors of Daleville, AL, Antoinette "Toni" J. Kelly(Michael) of Baden, PA and Timothy Sailors of Prattville, AL; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Gibbon and brother, Michael Hawley, both of Cheshire, England.

Doreen, British-born, but a naturalized American citizen, was a devoted wife to her husband of 44 years, during which they traveled the globe over 30 years of service in the Air Force finally making a home here in Montgomery.

She was a proud member of Memorial Presbyterian Church. Although the debilitating disease of pulmonary fibrosis limited her activity over the past year, she maintained constant contact with her spiritual needs through the church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doreen's name to Memorial Presbyterian Church or to Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrois.
