The son of Joseph and Alice Elzira (Ballenger) Lasley, he was born June 19, 1910 on a farm near Lancaster, Missouri.
On February 26, 1944, he was married to Katherine Gardine. She preceded him in death on March 16, 1998. Besides his wife and parents, two sisters, Sybil Steen and Cecil Schmitter preceded him in death.
Mr. Lasley, a life time resident of Schuyler County, was a mechanic. He was self employed and many will remember him and his shop behind his home in Lancaster. He was a member of the Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri.
He is survived by his daughter, Sheri Steen and her husband, Keith of Goose Creek, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Robin Swem also of Goose Creek and Bryan Steen and his wife, Kristen of Charleston, South Carolina; one great grandson, Micheal Swem and one sister, Mrs. Otto (Pauline) Schmitter of rural Lancaster, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2001 at the Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri at 2:00 p.m. Rob Green, pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Music will be provided by organist, Maureen Watkins and soloist, Poe Steggall. Special selections will be "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Pallbearers will be Carl Gottman, Leon Schmitter, Bryan Steen, Darrell Schmitter, Paul Steen and Russell Lasley. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Lake, Dave Hartsock, Edson Tallman and Bryce Tallman.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2001 between the hours of 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. A memorial has been established for the Alzheimers Foundation.
