Carolyn E. Gertsch died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.
Carolyn E. Gertsch was born March 18, 1921 in Columbus, Nebraska to Fred and Clara (Thayer) Laudenklaus. She grew up in Platte Center and attended Monroe Public School.
Carolyn married Wayne A. Gertsch on September 20, 1944 in
Brownwood, Texas. She moved back to Columbus in 1944. Carolyn worked at the Pawnee Chief Cafe, Club Cafe on 12th street, Columbus Oil Company and the Keene Corner Cafe. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church. Carolyn enjoyed the company of her dear friend Minnie White, going out to eat, gardening, watching ball games and attending various church functions. Her favorite pastime was going to McDonalds for a cup of coffee and a hamburger as she watched the people and visited with old friends.
