John was a very likeable guy - I remember my grandfather as a fast talker but easy going. He was the town barber, drummer in a band, a husband and a father. He passed away peacefully in his sleep from pancreatic cancer. He lived a Godly life and had accepted Jesus as his Savior on the steps of La Plata MO Baptist Church on January 26th, 1919 - the night his first wife, Golda, died.
I am told that when he and Dora picked out the plots, he told Dora "I'll probably get the bottom bunk." He also said as he looked at the view (he was on a hill), "This is a lovely place, I'll be ready when the trumpet sounds. Maybe I'll be the first to see Him (Jesus)."
Thank you for the Godly example you gave to all of us, Grandpa.
Someday we will all be together again - and for eternity! No more goodbyes.... no more tears...
