"PLAINVIEW, Minn. - Dorothy M. Zabel, 90, of Plainview died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Whitewater Healthcare Center, St. Charles, Minn., where she was a resident for the past 21/2 years.
Dorothy was born Jan. 27, 1914, in Lewiston, Minn., as Dorothy Richter. She married Clarence Zabel on June 26, 1940, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Lewiston. Clarence preceded her in death in 1992.
Dorothy is survived by four daughters, Mary Lou (Alan) Krause of Lansing, Mich., Ruth Ann (Rev. Daniel) Mattson of St. Louis, Marcella Borgschatz of Winona and Jeanette (Rev. Stephen) Stohlmann of North St. Paul, Minn.; one son, Edward Zabel of Plainview; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Esther Marxhausen of Rollingstone, Minn.; and one brother, the Rev. Eldor (Mary) Richter of Arlington Heights, Ill.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Ervin Richter; one sister, Adeline Luehr; and one grandson, David Krause.
Dorothy graduated from Lewiston High School, Winona Teacher's College and taught rural school in the area. After their marriage, Dorothy and Clarence farmed in Elgin Township all their lives. She was active in the community, serving in Farm Bureau, and in her church, where she served as an officer in Lutheran Women's Missionary League." (Obituary provided by Connie Money)
