Brookman c.1861 after which her daughter was known by the Brookman surname. Whether her stepfather formally adopted her or not is unknown but seems unlikely to the writer.

In 1897 he married Clara Ann Gray, Alexander's granddaughter, and the daughter of William A. and Maggie Aten Gray. They had one child, Ruth Isabel, born on Dec 24th, 1898. After the birth of his daughter Harry was employed in Hillsboro at the Penwell Klar department store and worked in the haberdashery department.
