Laura Ann's daughter:

Mary Minerva, known by all as Minnie, was Harry's stepsister. She was the daughter of Laura Ann Steere Gore and Obijah Gore who died when Minnie was about one year old. Laura Ann married William N. Brookman c.1861 after which her daughter was known by the Brookman surname. Whether her stepfather formally adopted her or not is unknown but seems unlikely to the writer.

Harry did not take up the carpenter's trade of his father and grandfather but was employed as a farmhand on the Alexander Gray farm. In 1897 he married Clara Ann Gray, Alexander's granddaughter, and the daughter of William A. and Maggie Aten Gray. They had one child, Ruth Isabel, born on Dec 24th, 1898. After the birth of his daughter Harry was employed in Hillsboro at the Penwell Klar department store and worked in the haberdashery department. In 1912 he contracted cancer of the stomach and died at home in 1913 several days short of his 47th birthday.
