Professional Football Player. Born Thomas Louis O'Malley, he attended Hughes High School in Cincinnati and following graduation served in the Pacific Theater with the US Navy during World War II. Upon his return home, he enrolled at the University of Cincinnati where he played collegiate football. O'Malley, (who played the quarterback position) during his senior year under the guidance of head coach Sid Gillman emerged a star collegiate player, as he led the nation in passing yardage in 1949, while the Bearcats clinched the Mid-American Conference Title. Selected by the Cleveland Browns during the 6th round of the 1949 AAFC Draft, he was signed by the Green Bay Packers and appeared in one game with them during the 1950 season. However, it would be in the Canadian Football League where O'Malley's attributes which made him a standout player at the collegiate level materialized on the professional level. While with the Ottawa Rough Riders, he guided them to the Grey Cup title in 1951, as they defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 21 to 14. Following his football career, he became an executive in the steel industry. He was inducted into the James P. Kelly, Sr. University of Cincinnati Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006.
