Maria Sophia Schover was born April 16, 1772, in what is now the Thurmont area of Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of (Georg) Peter Schover (Schober) and Maria Sophia Ambrose Schover. She was baptized on July 26, 1772 at the Frederick Evangelical Reformed Church, the sponsors being Simon and Maria Barbara Schober, her grandparents. On September 27, 1791, in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, she married Daniel Rouzer, a native of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, son of Martin and Sarah Graff Rouzer. They were the parents of 10 children: Peter, Catharine, Jacob, Sophia, Sarah, Daniel, Lydia, Martin, Henry and Elizabeth. Maria Sophia passed away July 18, 1810 and was buried in Apple's Lutheran & Reformed Church Cemetery, Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland.
