END COMES AT HOSPITAL FOLLOWING OPERATION
Carthage Man 63, Was Native of Germany - Wife and Five Children Survive
Gustave E. Hoffman, 812 Olive Street died at 11 o'clock last night at the Carthage Hospital, where he underwent an operation Saturday for gallstones. He was 63 years old and had been ill ten weeks. He was taken to the hospital last Friday. The body was removed to the Knell Mortuary.
Mr. Hoffman was born in Huttka, Germany November 11, 1861. He came to the United States in 1884 and first located near Golden City, residing there was a short while and then going to Illinois, from where he later returned to Springfield and resided there until he moved to Carthage five years ago.
Mr. Hoffman formerly was employed as a watchman for the Juvenile Shoe Corporation but had been retired for some time.
His wife, Jennie Hoffman survives.
