DEATH OF ARTHUR ALLEN
Succumbs to Injuries When Recovery Seemed Probable

Arthur Allen, who was injured at Bonneville seven weeks ago while performing his duties as brakeman on the Burlington, died at the hospital at Thermopolis Sunday. He was thought to be getting along nicely and arrangements were being made to transfer him to the Douglas hospital. Another operation was necessary and this had been done, but the patient was unable, with his weakened vitality, to stand the shock and died unexpectedly when the success of the operation seemed assured. Malcom Campbell, father of Mrs. Allen, went to Thermopolis Monday and brought the body to Douglas that night.

Arthur B. Allen was born at Hayes, Kansas April 29, 1889, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Allen. He moved with his parents to Greeley, Colorado in 1891 and to Wheatland in 1895, where he graduated from high school in 1908.

He was married in 1909 to Miss Katie Campbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malcom Campbell, and this place has since been his home. He is survived by his wife and four children, the youngest born but a day previous to his death. His parents reside at Wheatland and a brother lives at Wilcox, Arizona and another at Rawlins. His only sister died at Wheatland three weeks ago.

Information was obtained from his obituary in the Douglas Budget August 10, 1916 and mortuary records.
