Ben Nelson Frizzell, 81, of Star City, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his home.

Born August 10, 1929 in Geridge, AR, he was the son of the late Luther B. and Alma Tipton Frizzell.

As a boy, he and his family moved to Crigler, AR and established Frizzell Farms. After graduating from Star City Schools, he continued to work on the family farm until he was drafted by the United States Army. Upon returning home, he and his brother, Bill, established Frizzell's Food Center, Frizzell's Western Auto and Frizzell's Shopping Center. As a founding board member of Yorktown Water Association, he served diligently until 2010. He was a member of Branchville Lodge #256, lifetime member of the American Legion, Lincoln County Veterans Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. He was a member of First Baptist Church at Star City. An avid outdoorsman, which included fishing, duck and deer hunting, he enjoyed spending time at his deer camp, The Hide n' Horn Hunting Club, with family and friends. Restoring antique tractors was a favorite pastime as well as enjoying his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

Preceding him in death were his brothers; Burnice Frizzell and J.T. Frizzell, sisters; Zenobie Goggans and Margie James, all of Star City.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years; Hilda Calloway Frizzell, son; Jay Paul Frizzell (Debby), daughters; Lou Ann Frizzell McCoy (Ralph) and Gina Frizzell Phillips (Terry), all of Star City, Grandchildren; Richard Frizzell (Laura), Brittney Frizzell McCraig (Dustin) of Conway, Casey McCoy, Cade Phillips, Cole Phillips and Lance Phillips of Star City, Great-Grandchildren; Ryan Frizzell, Beau Frizzell, Brendan McCraig and Blake McCraig of Conway, Brothers; Donald Frizzell of Pine Bluff, W.H. (Bill) Frizzell of Star City, Johnnie Frizzell of Hope Hull, Alabama and Charles (Buddy) Frizzell of Sherwood, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be his nephews; Steve Frizzell, Glen Frizzell, Gary Frizzell, Neil Frizzell, Mark Frizzell, Ronnie Frizzell, Jeff Frizzell and James West.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00-8:00PM at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 10:00AM at First Baptist Church with Bros. Don Borland and Stephen Beavers officiating. Burial will be at Drake Cemetery.
