Services for Marcus L. Gunter of 1120 Jackson, retired lumberman, will be at 1:30 this afternoon at Macedonia Baptist Church near New Albany, Miss., with the Rev. F.W. Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with National Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Gunter, who was born in Blue Mountain, Miss., and spent most of his life in that state, died in his sleep early yesterday at his home. He was 78. Mr. Gunter, a Baptist, moved here in 1938 after retiring from the lumber business. He and his wife, Mrs. Allie M. Gunter, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary May 15, 1955. He leaves his wife; six sons, M.L. Gunter Jr., Claude W. Gunter, William L. Gunter and Donald L. Gunter, all of Memphis, B.R. Gunter of Oxford, Miss., and K.R. Gunter of Greenville, Miss.; four daughters, Mrs. Ann Matthews, Mrs. Floy Livingston, Mrs. O.D. Livingston, and Mrs. C.M. Harlan, all of Memphis; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
