Mr. Gunter, who was born in Blue Mountain, Miss., and spent most of his life in that state, died in his sleep early yesterday at his home. He was 78. Mr. Gunter, a Baptist, moved here in 1938 after retiring from the lumber business. He and his wife, Mrs. Allie M. Gunter, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary May 15, 1955. He leaves his wife; six sons, M.L. Gunter Jr., Claude W. Gunter, William L. Gunter and Donald L. Gunter, all of Memphis, B.R. Gunter of Oxford, Miss., and K.R. Gunter of Greenville, Miss.; four daughters, Mrs. Ann Matthews, Mrs. Floy Livingston, Mrs. O.D. Livingston, and Mrs. C.M. Harlan, all of Memphis; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
