He was born on Sept. 27, 1939 in Catlin to William and Helen Stenner Kinney. He married Susan Bireline in Georgetown on May 21, 1988. She passed away on May 20, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, Charles and Joseph Kinney and an infant daughter, Leah Kinney.
He is survived by his sons, Scott (Teri) Kinney, Douglas Kinney, and step-son, Andy Ballard; his daughter, Sara (Ralph) Washington and step-daughter, Kim Hensler; his eight grandchildren, Reece Kinney, Spencer Kinney, Jenna Kinney, and Jordan, Akoyia, Ambria, Isaiah Washington, Isaac Washington; his two brothers, Albert (Judy) Kinney and Kenneth (Doris) Kinney; four sisters, Lois (Ron) Warner, Edith (Joe) Earl, Dorothy Peevler and Jeanne (George) Conklin; his mother and father-in-law, Helen and Bill Pentecost and two sisters-in-law, Mary Kinney and Betty Kinney.
He served 22 years on the Danville Fire Department. He retired as a lieutenant on May 15, 1989.
