On August 14, 1859 he was united in marriage to Mary Anna Smith who preceded him in death Jan. 8, 1916. He was a member of the Pryorville, Ky. Baptist church but after coming to Indiana transferred his membership to the Methodist church at New Philadelphia.
During the past five years he had made his home with a a daughter Mrs. James Warman of Hammond, Ind. and had until the past fourteen months been active, but during the month of June (last) he suffered a stroke of paralysis, had since been very feeble and during the past six months had been constantly confined to his bed and all the tender and loving care of his daughter, neighbors and friends could not change the will of God who had given him a life of many years.

He leaves to mourn his loss, four sons and two daughters, namely: - Mrs. James Warman, Hammond, Ind.; Mrs. Robert McKnight, Hillsborough, Oregon; William A. of Los Angeles, Calif,; Fred of Carwood, Ind.; and Louis L. of Brookville, Florida.
