The Oklahoman, Friday, March 16, 1962:
Services for Charles Hale, 81, 3237 NW 11, were held here Thursday, followed by burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Hale, one time foreman of the renowned 101 Ranch near Ponca City, was born in Butler, MO. He moved to Colorado at the age of six and in 1901 became foreman of the legendary ranch owned at the time by the Miller Brothers.

In Oklahoma City he operated Hale's Perennial Gardens at his home. He was a charter member of the Cherokee Strip Cowpunchers Association and was one of the group that participated in the last of the large cattle drives going from Wagner Mound, NM to Casper, Wyoming. He was also a member of the Modern Woodsman of America and the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of the home; two daughters, Mrs June Saulsbury, 409 NW 11, and Mrs Daisy Kant, 500 NW 92; two sons, Charles, Oceanside, CA, and Clyde, 1618 Johnson Drive; two sisters, Miss Lee Hale and Miss Retta Hale, both of Lajunta, Colo.
