Charles Carson Hodge
HODGE, CHARLES CARSON, 81 of Pearisburg, VA passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hodge was born on August 1, 1927 in Bane, VA, and was a son of the late Charles A. and Mary Carper Hodge. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred H. Barton. Mr. Hodge was a WWII Army Veteran, a retired employee of the Celanese Plant in Narrows with 42 years service, a member of Providence United Methodist Church, member of the White Gate Ruritan Club that he dearly loved, and was a member of the RSVP, NRCA and American Legion Post # 311. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene Kelly Hodge of Pearisburg, one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Benny Johnson of Gretna, one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Izma Hodge of Pearisburg, two brothers, Danny Hodge and Wife Loretta of Pearisburg, Newton Hodge of Greenville, SC, two sisters, Betty Muncy and Husband Jess of Moneta, Rowana H. Kelly of Greenville, SC, one granddaughter, Angela Huff and one great granddaughter, Brooke Huff. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Ted Anders, Rev Eddie Kendall officiating with entombment following in the Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg, VA. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg. Military Honors will be given by American Legion Post #68 in Narrows American Legion Post #311 and VFW Post #6000 in Narrows.
