Doris Jacobs, 87, died on June 20, 2010 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Family will greet friends Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Strode Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Perkins, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on April 24, 1923 to O.L. and Florence Love Gilmore in Strong, Arkansas. She married Rex Jacobs of Coyle, OK on August 16, 1941 in Carthage, Texas.
Growing up, she attended Strong Schools were she graduated from Strong High School. She went on to graduated from Beetches Beauty College in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She worked one year at Perkins before establishing her own shop in Coyle for fifty years. She also worked part time at Golden Oaks Retirement Center Beauty Salon and at Aggiette Merle Norman Beauty Salon, Personal Touch Salon, and Stillwater Hospital. She retired at the age of 80.
Doris was a founding member of Trinity Community Church in Coyle, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents, O.L. and Florence; her husband, Rex; and one daughter, Lynnita Jacobs.
She is survived by one daughter, Carole Logue Lowe and husband, Larry of Perkins, OK; and four grandchildren, Jay Dee Logue and wife, Lavonne of Coyle, OK , Tonda Logue and partner, Polly Voss of Orlando, FL, Lori Lowe Nicholson and husband, David, of Crawfordville, FL and Lonny Lowe of Perkins, OK; 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
