Mr. Paul Willard Bailey, age 87, died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Presbyterian Hospital.

Born in Union, S.C., Mr. Bailey was a son of the late Charles P. Bailey and Mattie Willard Bailey. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. Mr. Bailey retired from the Charlotte Transit Authority, as a bus driver.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Marianna Hoagland Bailey; his daughter, Karen Bailey Cobb and her husband, Frank, of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Marion Bailey of Union, S.C.; and grandchildren, Hal Starling, Jennifer Starling, Bryan Cobb, Brandon Cobb; and great-grandchildren, Felicia and Kandace Mariani, and Kathryn Bailey Cobb. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Bailey Starling (1999).
