Born May 11th, in Prince George's County, Maryland to Arnold Livers (1669-1751) & Helen Gordon (1684-1718 to 1721). He was Arnold Livers' oldest son born in America.
On September 7, 1724, at the age of 19, Arnold entered the Society of Jesus in Watten, Holland. He completed his two years of novitiate and took the simple vows submitting to the rule of Liege on September 4, 1726. At the English Low Lands (Flanders) College of Liege, he studied three years of Philosophy and four years of Theology. He graduated, was ordained, and assigned to the missions of Maryland in 1733.
Father Arnold Livers returned to Prince George's County, and he served the Catholics of Boone Chapel in Prince George's County, the Elder Station in Frederick County, Md., and Conewago Chapel in Pennsylvania. Mass was said in each place about once a month.
Rev. Arnold Livers is said to have been the priest who baptized young John Carroll, founder of Georgetown University and also was the first Bishop of in America in Baltimore.
