Jess E. Sheek was born in Erath County and moved to Abilene in 1923 from Fort Worth. He married Laura Bell Hall who preceded him in death. He was a longtime employee of the Abilene brick plant, retiring in 1954. Survived by one son - S.A. "Buck" Sheek; four daughters - Clara Stout, Oretha Collins, Lula Mae Cheatham, Velma Ewing; two sisters - Mary Phillips, and Georgia Bailey; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
