Pearl M. Bowersox
February 8, 1921 - July 29, 2009

Pearl M. Bowersox, 88, formerly of Millheim and the Fairways at Brookline, entered peacefully into eternal rest on July 29, 2009 at Valley View Haven in Belleville surrounded by her family. Pearl was born at the family farm in Aaronsburg on February 8, 1921 to the late Henry J. Stover and A. Trevola Keller Stover. Pearl was a 1939 graduate of the East Penn's Valley High School where she had been the May Queen. Pearl married Earl R. Vonada, who preceded her in death in Dec. of 1943. On Aug. 17, 1947 she married Nevin E. "Sox" Bowersox, who also preceded her in death on July 28, 1999. Pearl was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir and was also the church organist. She also played for the Penn's Valley Men's Chorus. She was a member of the East Penn's Valley Women's club. Pearl was formerly employed by Nieman's Department store in Millheim. She was an excellent seamstress, having made the uniforms for the cheerleaders and majorettes at Penn's Valley High School.

Pearl is survived by two daughters, by one son, by two sisters. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Pearl was also preceded in death by one sister, Olivia Hosterman and by one brother, Victor Neese. Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 31, 2009 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim. The funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00 am with the Rev. Leroy Reitz officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Millheim.
