Pembroke - Mr. Charles Wesley Lane Jr., age 64, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. Lane retired from the U.S. Army after being injured and receiving the Purple Heart during his service in the Vietnam War. He also retired after 22 years of service with the Department of Transportation where he wokred in road construction. Mr. Lane was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves.

Survivors include his mother, Frances Lane of Pembroke; daughter, Stephanie Lane of Claxton; son, Ken Lane of Pembroke; sister and brother-in-law, Amanda L. and Ronnie K. Dowd of Ellabell; grandchildren, Mitchell, Jordan and Makenzy Lane and Nickalas and Courtnie Bacon; niece, Ashlee Smith and nephew, Kevin Dowd.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Sauls and Dr. Jim Correll officiating. Burial will be in Northside Cemetery with military honors.
