Stephen J. Steepleton, 50, of 1223 Fourth Ave., died Saturday, April 6, 2002, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a sudden illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Mr. LaVerne Flagel will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; four sons, John and wife Michele, Richard and wife Valerie, Jeremy and wife Stacey and Spencer and Tina, all of Marion; six sisters, Joyce Peachee of Waterloo, Carolyn Curtis of San Antonio, Texas, and Janet Metz, Joan Fox, Julie Wilson and Mary Roemig all of Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Jerry and Jim, both of Cedar Rapids, Joe of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Patrick of Nevada; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Andrew, Brandon, Alicia, Mackenzie, Tyler and Vanessa; and a grandchild due in September.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John.
Steve was born Jan. 10, 1952, in Vinton, the son of Mahlon and Frances Aten Steepleton. He married Rosemary J. Hofer on Oct. 18, 1969, in Cedar Rapids. Steve worked construction at Delaney and Kelly.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The casket will be closed on Tuesday.
