Robert S. Allington "If you set your mind to it; you can do it"

NORTH OGDEN – Robert "Bob" Allington of North Ogden, passed away Thursday evening, October 16, 2008, in the home he shared with his wife, Donna M. Corwin, of 61 years. They met on a blind date shortly after his release from the United States Army. While serving in the Pacific Theater he worked as a paratrooper and mess sergeant. He learned how to make awesome meat loaf, bread, and sour dough waffles which he delighted in serving to friends and family.

As a young man he thrived working as a diamond core driller spending time doing physical labor in the great outdoors. When health issues with his wife and children made that nomadic lifestyle impossible, he worked as an industrial maintenance supervisor until his retirement. However, he lived for his weekends camping and traveling the country on vacation. He was born in Holladay, Utah, to Elmer Howard Allington and Arvilla Myrtle Sharples on November 9, 1926. He returned to the picturesque landscape of his youth where he retired.

His wife, son and daughter-in-law, Leonard "Len" Howard and Tamra "Tammy" Bradley Allington, and his daughter, Cathy Lynn Allington-Dille, were at his bedside when he passed away. His son-in-law, Joe Dille, his daughter, Sandra "Sandy" and her husband, Charles "Chuck" R. Rosson, were there in spirit, although they could not make it in time.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Arvilla Allen and Mrs. Eleanor Whitaker, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Both of his parents and his two brothers, Howard and "Ben", greeted him on the other side welcoming him back into the religion of his youth.

Funeral services were held at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.

This information was provided by the Lindquist's Mortuary obituaries.
