John Smith, died at the residence of his son Erastus Smith at Gloversville, Saturday [4 Jan] morning, aged 82 years. Mr. Smith had been a resident of this village for over 30 years and gone to Gloversville to visit his 2 children who resided there when he was called home.

He was one of the quiet exemplary of this village whose example it would be well for other to follow. He leaves to mourn his demise M. M. Smith of this village and Mrs. Alice Ferris of Gloversville.

The remains were brought to this village and the funeral attended from the residence of his son M. M. [M. Myron] Smith, No. 5 Middle Street, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday [7 Jan], the Rev. O. L. Hall, officiating.
