HANK BIERMAN, SR

OKOLONA - Hank L. Bierman Sr., 73, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at his daughter's home in the Longview Community of Pontotoc Co., after an extended illness. He was born on Oct. 24, 1937, in Dumas, Ark., to Kiser Lee Bierman and Margaret Wood Bierman. He grew up in Oklahoma, graduated from the public schools there and attended the University of Oklahoma. He served 11 years with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He and his late wife, Shirley Tacker Bierman, lived in Klamath Falls, Ore., and eventually settled in Okolona where they made their home. He was the co-owner of Teacher's Pet in Tupelo for years and, after retirement, worked in security at United Furniture Company in Okolona. A member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a Master Mason, he enjoyed working in his yard, cooking great meals for family and friends, count cross stitching and being with his beloved dog, Crickett.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Boone's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Corley officiating. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his daughter, Kassaundra "Kassie" Tolar (Mark) of the Longview Community; his son, Hank L. Bierman, II (Lisa) of Tupelo; his grandchildren, Billy Joe "Trey" Cullum, III of Longview, Meghan Reichart, Sarah Bierman and Mallory Bierman, all of Tupelo; three sisters, Pearl Sanders of Texas, Jean Wineinger of Kansas and Mary Baker of Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley on Feb. 11, 2006; and nine siblings.

Pallbearers will be James Roy Parmer, Jim Jackson, Jon Tartt, Trey Cullum, Mark Tolar and Wade amp"Tankamp" Nicholson.

Honorary pallbearer will be his son, Hank, II.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors and from noon to service time Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Boone's Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Janelle @ Bank of Okolona, P. O. Box 306, Okolona, MS 38860.
