MAJ US AIR FORCE WORLD WAR II

Douglas V. Currey, 90, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Mr. Currey served as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. As a result of his service he was very patriotic. He will be remembered as being honest, kindhearted, and very patient. Mr. Currey was a quiet man and was a deep thinker. He enjoyed hunting (was a member of the Gateway Gun Club for a number of years), gun collecting, horses and all kinds of animals. Mr. Currey is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Self and Jonette Boote (Buz); two sons, Ted Currey (Shelley) and Ralph Currey (Janet); sister, Diane Stocking (Ray); 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances J. Currey. The Funeral Service will be held, with Military Honors, at 6:00 p.m. Friday, today, June 10th at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14th in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
