Robert William Taylor,90,of Creston, died peacefully Thursday, February 4, 2010 at his home following a brief illness. He was born June 12, 1919 in Ravenswood , West Virginia, the son of the late Owen E. and Arizona (Lane) Taylor.
He married Alice E. Walden on August 9, 1947 and she survives. He was a 1939 graduate of Racine High School and was on the the All State basketball Team in 1939. He served in the US Army during WWII serving in Company M of the 149th Infantry. He served in the Southern Phillipines, Luzon, and New Guinea.
He retired from Formrite Tub Co. in Medina in 1984 and had made his home in Medina County most of his life, living in Creston the past 10 years.He enjoyed gardening and raising roses, fishing, golfing,watching the birds, and bowling. Bob and Alice bowled on several leagues at Medina Lanes.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Barbara Jean and her husband Samuel Shellhorn of Lodi, Kenneth E. and his wife Peggy Taylor of Creston, Terry L. Taylor of Seveirville, Tn. , Daniel L. Taylor of Wadsworth and Richard A. Taylor of Medina: 13 grandchildren,29 great-grandchildren and a sister Carrie Striker of Norwalk, Oh.
He is proceded in death by a son, Robert E. Taylor; brothers, Darryl, Beryl,Earl,Carroll and Carl: and sisters Ila Dull, Naomi Jameyson and Audrey Duecker.
Friends may call Sunday February 7, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm at the Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Servives will be Monday February 8, 2010 in the funeral home, with Rev. Gerald Fritz officiating. Burial will be in the Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.
