He was a soldier in the American Revolution and, before that, in 1759, was at the Battle of Quebec. He carted supplies from Albany to Fort Ticonderoga during the summer of 1762, as related in his record book.

He came to Colrain,MA from Woodstock,CT about 1765.

Son of Samuel Call (1698-1747) and Abigail (Sprague) Call (1702-c1750) of Oxford,MA.

He married, first, on Jan 1,1760 at Woodstock,CT, Lucy Chaffee.

He married, second, on Dec 6,1798, Martha Safford. It is not entirely clear who she was, but she is thought to have been the Martha Safford, buried here (also in Branch Cemetery), and she could possibly be the widow of Joseph Safford Jr. Her possible identity (along with who she was not) are covered in a recent 2022 article of NEHGR (Vol 176, pp.294-5),

In his record book is the following: "Mother Lee came to live with me February 1786. She dyed September 9th, 1803, in the 85th year of her age." I am not yet sure who this refers to, but the death of Elizabeth Lee is recorded in Colrain on that date. She may very well be Elizabeth (Chaffee) Lee, widow of John Lee, born Jan 2,1729/30 at Rehoboth, and sister of his first wife.

Children(by first marriage): John Call Jr, Elizabeth Call Randall, Stephen Call, Stephen Call, Eunice Call, Levi Call, Lucy Call Barrows, Abigail Call, Levi Call, Isaac Call, Eunice Call Nims, and Joel Call(husband of Elizabeth Totman Call).
