Settled in Wake County, N. C. about 1781.
Married first to Annie Lewis of Granville County, N. C. He had one son with Annie. He was Samuel Rencher (1783-1791).
After Annies death he married Ann Nancy Nelson, daughter of Abraham Nelson and Toby Patterson.
He witnessed many documents for early Wake and Orange County residents.
Served as sheriff of Wake County from 1810 til his death in 1812.
