Cecil Allsbrook
(Died October 3, 2014)

Cecil Allsbrook, 74, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014.

Cecil was born in Scotland Neck, NC. After serving in the US Army, where he was an expert marksman, he returned home where he worked for the state of North Carolina. He then moved to Hampton and went to work at Newport News Shipyard, where he retired with over 30 years of service.

Anyone who knew Cecil knows of his amazing sense of humor and his love of fishing – which was second only to his love for his family and friends.

Cecil was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Judy, and his mother, Frances Allsbrook. He is survived by his son, Earl Allsbrook, and his wife, Kim, of Newport News; his daughter, Renee Amos, and her husband, Jeff, of Midlothian; his five grandchildren, Kristin, Trey, Blake, Taylor, and Tyler; his sister Ann LaBarre; many nieces and nephews; his lifelong friends, Bill “Junior” and Doris Hamm; and of course his fishing family.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 PM on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home on Harpersville Road in Newport News. After the visitation, the family invites you to Buckroe Fishing Pier – Cecil’s favorite place – to pay final respects. Casual attire.

In lieu of flowers or donations – take a kid fishin’.
