VALPARAISO -- Services for Mrs. Mary O. Palen, 89, of Valparaiso, who died Sunday at Lake Placid, Fla., will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bartholomew Funeral Home.
The Rev. William Kaster will offiicate; burial in Graceland Cemetery; visitation 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Mrs. Palen was born Jan. 31, 1899 in Valparaiso, a daughter of Walter and Estella (Fleming) Bryarly. On June 29, 1920 in Valparaiso, she married Willard Palen, who died Feb. 18, 1978.
Mrs. Palen was a bookkeeper at Lowenstines' Department Store. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens.
Surviving are a son, Jack of Valparaiso; a daughter, Marilyn Sawtell of Florida; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edith Hutton and Edna Crowe, both of Valparaiso.
