JOSEPH MELLOR

FAYETTE, Sanpete County -- Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Fayette Ward Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, by Dean Bartholomew, bishop, for Joseph Mellor, 83, who died Tuesday night at his home here of causes incident to age.

Friends may call at the family home Sunday after 2 p.m. and Monday prior to services. Burial will be in the Fayette Cemetery, directed by Peterson Mortuary, Salina.

a native of England, and a son of John F. and Rachel Ward Mellor, he came to the Uinted States with his father and grandparents. His father stayed in Massachusetts, but he came with his grandparent's to Utah.

He married Eliza Robinson in the Manti LDS Temple June 1, 1898. They settled in Fayette where Mr. Mellor was a farmer. Mrs. Mellor died April 22, 1942.

Active in the LDS Church, he served in the Sunday School Superintendency, in the bishopric and at the time of his death was a ward teacher and a high priet. He also served in Fayette for several years as town marshal and justice of the peace.

Survivors include three sons: Guy, Fred and Wendell Mellor, Fayette; two daughters: Mrs. Glen (Lillian) Lyman and Mrs. Ernest (Rachel) Sorenson, Fayette; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Alice E. Lloyd, Spanish Fork.
