Evelyn Oneta Sewell, left this world to be with her Lord in Heaven on June 3, 2011. She was born in Ovilla, Texas, as the first child of Mack and Lula Witherspoon on Aug. 24, 1915. Oneta had one brother, James Witherspoon, and one sister, Ina Louise Witherspoon Ramzy, both who preceded her in death.

Oneta married her childhood sweetheart, George Stoke Sewell, on May 22, 1938, and they were married for 56 years. George and Oneta owned and operated George Sewell Insurance and Real Estate Agency in downtown Midlothian for almost 50 years. After George returned from service in the Navy in World War II, they had three children: son, George Stoke III, who was taken to heaven after being with them only six months; and two daughters, Mary Kathryn Hight, and husband, Neil, of Aspen, Colo., and Bettye Ann Briggs, and husband, Maurice, of Harleysville, Pa.

There are four grandchildren: Allison Hight Narins, and husband, Douglas, Kathryn Michelle Briggs Gandalal, and husband, Malon Gandalal, Brenton Stoke Briggs and wife, Damari Berrios, and Brian Austin Briggs; and five great-grandchildren, Danielle, Rebecca and Jordan Narins, and Jatin and Javin Gandalal. Oneta also had a very close relationship with her nephews and their families: Mike and Sherry Ramzy, John and Betty Witherspoon, Jim and Sally Witherspoon, Bill and Jan Perkins and Bob and Judy Perkins.

Oneta was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, where she taught Bible classes and was well known for her cooking skills, especially apricot cobbler, as well as her generous giving nature.

George and Oneta's home was always open to all, and the daughters remember their mom giving food and a resting place on the porch to those who came by needing a little help. Oneta is well remembered for all she did and gave to others, for her twinkling blue eyes and her smiles enhanced by those special dimples.

Oneta is now with George, her one true love once again, and with all those dear ones who have preceded her to Heaven. We have the assurance that she is at peace in her Lord's loving arms, now and forever more.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 7. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Midlothian Church of Christ with burial in Midlothian Cemetery.
