Corning, N.Y. —

Janet A. Young, age 95 of 73 Houghton Circle, Corning, died Friday, May 6, 2011.

Her parents James A. and Adelaide B. Young, Sr. and two brothers, Milo W. and James Jr. predeceased her in death. She has many nieces, nephews as well as great and great, great nieces and nephews who survive her. Her oldest nephew, William J. (Joan) Young, Sr. of Cornelius, NC and their families have kept closely in touch with Janet, as has her nephew, James (Mary) Young III of Angelica, NY. She dearly loved and appreciated each of them.

Janet often referred to her friends, among them many former students, as her "Corning family." She was always delighted with their visits and remembrances.

Her retirement as a teacher of English for 40 years, occurred in 1977: 35 years of teaching English in Corning Free Academy and in East High. The first 5 years were her beginning in Troupsburg and Addison.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be at a later date convenient for the family and her friends. Her ashes will be interred in the family plot in the Angelica Cemetery. Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements.
