At this time, I am personally unsure of the year the headstone was replaced. In 1953 the D.A.R. placed a bronze revolutionary war veteran marker in front of the original headstone. A newspaper article from Memorial Day, 1966 states the only thing marking his grave was the small bronze marker. So sometime between 1953 and 1966 the original headstone had deteriorated or been destroyed.
