Mealie Cain Webb, 89, died April 30, 1997, in Raleigh, N.C. She was born Jan. 2, 1908, in Marble, the daughter of Richard (Dick) and Amonzon (Zona) Crow Cain. She was a seamstress for 20 years for the family business, Hobbs Upholstery. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Price and Woodrow Cain; and four sisters, Josie, Grace, Ruth and Kate.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Druceleia C. and Raymond E. Hobbs of Keno, Ore.; two sisters, Eunice Parsons of Marble and Annie Utley of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; a grandson and spouse, Dennis R. and Sandra K. Hobbs of Cary, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Kimberly Hobbs, Cristina Hobbs, and Michael Hobbs, all of Cary, Dennis Hobbs, and Kathrye Hobbs, all of Merced, Calif.; three great-great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, and Alexander, all of Merced, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services and interment were at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Lower Campground Cemetery. Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Service.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
