Mr. Allums passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at his home in Cache, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
A special viewing and visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Roy Curtis was born on September 1, 1911 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to James A. and Artie Mae (Klien) Allums. Roy attended schools at Cordell, Dill, and Lake Valley. As a young boy, he worked at the Cordell Shoe Shop and also worked at several area grain mills. He attended college at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Dutch married Mary Bye Bull in 1929 in Hobart, Oklahoma. After 46 years of marriage, she preceded him in death in 1975. He served during World War II in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he began teaching school and later became principal at Mutual, Oklahoma. He married Bea Garrison in 1977. She preceded in 2005. He was a Christian and had attended church in Chickasha.
Mr. Allums is survived by his son in law, Melvin F. Clark, of Lawton, Oklahoma; his two sisters Evelyn Smalley, of Texas, and Hattie Wakefield, of Colorado; his grandchildren, Alisa Durant and her husband, Billy, Kelvin Clark and his wife, Sandra, all of Lawton, Oklahoma, Ronnie Allums, and JR Allums, both of Florida; his great grandchildren, Jennifer Tiernan and her husband, Michael, of Cache, Oklahoma, and his great grandchildren, Austin and Courtney Clark, both of Lawton, Oklahoma; his great great grandson Chase Tiernan, of Cache, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both of his wives, his son, Roy Eugene Allums, his daughter, Shirley A. Clark, his brothers, Jess Allums, Jack Allums and Charley Allums and his sister, Ethel Bookout
