Ernest (Murf) Adams

VOLANT – Ernest (Murf) Adams, 62, of Volant died at 11 a.m. Dec. 16, 1979, 1979 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after a three-week illness. He was born Dec. 23, 1916 in Somerville, Pa., Clarion County, to the late Miles and Della Crawford Adams. He was married July 10, 1937 to the former Mae Bobbert, who survives. Mr. Adams was retired from Sharon Steel Corp. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Springfield Township, and served in Guam in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Paul Kenneth of Volant RD 1; one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Deanna) Opp of Bluff City, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Anthony of Blairsville and Mrs. Lillian Gay of East Brady; two brothers, Alfred of Fredonia and Preston of Sharon; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Tuesday at Grace Cunningham Smith Funeral Home, Leesburg. A service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home will be conducted by the Rev. Robert Lang of Church of God of Prophecy. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
