Mary Atwood Holmes Bradford was the oldest of eight children and oldest of six daughters born to John Atwood and Sarah Masterson, both from England.
Mary was the wife of a John Holmes, married 11 Dec 1661 in Plymouth per one ancestry tree without sources. John died before 1675, and they had at least one son, Joseph Holmes 1665-1733.
Secondly, Mary Wood became the third wife of Lt Gov William Bradford, marrying in 1678 per U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900. Only the state is given for a location.
The Wood family changed their name to At Wood coming from Wood-End in England, which converted to Atwood over time.

In a will dated 22 Nov 1675, John Wood Sr of Plymouth bequeathed his entire estate to his wife, Sarah, and to be distributed to his children after his death. A double portion went to his son John, equal portions to the remaining children, not listed. In Mar 1675/1676 the estate administered by Nathaniel in place of John Jr who had died recently. [1714 is incorrect?] Children listed were Isaac Wood, Mistress Mary Holmes a widow, Sarah Fallowell, Abigail Leonard, Merced, Elizabeth and Hannah Wood.

"On 24 Jun 1685 Nathaniel Wood, alias Attwood of New Plymouth, New England sold to Mr. Nathaniel Clarke of said town for 4 pounds, his portion of land in Plymouth, mentioning, "Sarah, my mother, relect widdow of my late father, John Wood alias Attwood; & Mary, Sarah, Abigaill, Mercy, Elizabeth & Hannah, my sisters, the daughteres of the said John Wood. On the same day the widow, Sarah; Mary the wife of Major William Bradford, Sarah, the relct of John Followay/Fallowell; Mercy Wood and Hannah Wood released their rights in the land." Caleb Nye, husband of Elizabeth also released his rights.
