Bill and his brother Pete owned and operated a Mink farm in Graham Washington for many years. Bill also breeded Mink and was reconized for creating a new color of Mink.

He entered the US Army on July 1, 1942 (WWII). He advanced quickly to Tech Sgt and trained soliders in communications.
