He was a native of Bulloch County and had retired after 37 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served in World War II. He was a member of Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church, where he was in the Sanctuary Choir and the Brotherhood.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Hagan Metts, Statesboro; three daughters, Patricia Rodriguez-Feo, Fairhope, Ala., Cathy Berry and April Rushing, both of Statesboro; one sister, Wilhelmina Addison, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Faye Pirkle, Augusta and Cathryn Hagan, Statesboro; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Shelton Mikell, Elder William Durrence and Elder George Daunhauer officiating. Burial with follow in Eastside Cemetery.
