The following is a note from the files of Dorothy Isabella Urquhart. It is not known who wrote this note. "Donald Ross, my wife's grandfather married Christina Munro and settled on the Kings Road, one and a half miles east of Martintown. Their family: Isobel, Catherine, Thomas, Anna, Janet, Duncan, Christie, Alexander, Philip and Margaret." Donald apparently received Lot 53, Concession 1, North Raisin River, Charlottenburgh Township, which was about 1 1/2 miles east of Williamstown and was low and swampy land. Donald got possession of his brother Alexander's lot and later sold lot 28 and his own 53 to a land speculator named William Price. Because most of the land near the Raisin River and around Williamstown was low and liable to flooding, the Rosses moved to higher ground when they could.
