---Walter J. Meeks died at the home of his wife's parents in Buckner Tuesday morning after an illness of several weeks of tumor of the brain.
---Mr. Meeks was an employee of the Prairie Oil company and was living at Dahinda, Illinois when he became seriously ill and was taken to Rochester, Minnesota and from there to Kansas City where the doctors announced his case as inoperable and he was taken to Buckner where he remained unconsious for several weeks. He was forty-three years old at the time of his death.
---Mr. Meeks is a former La Plata boy and is the oldest son of Mrs. Emma (Klingman)Meeks and a brother of John Meeks of this city.
---He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and two children, his mother, two brothers and three sisters, namely, John Meeks of La Plata, Bryon Meeks of Bairall, Wyoming, Mrs. Ed Mansfield of Lakin, Kansas, Mrs. Vincent Naylor of Excelsior Springs, Mrs. John Hook of Dahinda, Illinois and other relatives and many friends.
---Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2:00 at Buckner and burial was at that place.
