Fred W. Hall, 80, *** ***** ******, Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, June 1, 2002, at his residence. Mr. Hall was a native of Wytheville, Va., but had been a resident of Carter County for the last 30 years. He was the son of the late Walter and Nora Bland Hall. Mr. Hall retired from the VA Medical Center after 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific, and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #17. He was a devoted Christian and a member of East River Park Christian Church, where he faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher for several years. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Hazel Greer Hall, of the home, and four daughters and three sons-in-law, Wanda and John Manson, Cashiers, N.C., Dianne and Johnie Jones, Fruitland Park, Fla., Jan and John Bunce, Diamonhead, Miss., and Regina Duckett, Mendota, Va. Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Joel Stauffer, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Edwin Taylor. Committal and entombment services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military Honors will be accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be the following grandsons: David Meredith, Robin Meredith, Matthew Jones and Jonathan Nave, and the following sons-in-law: Johnie Jones, John Manson and John Bunce. Honorary pallbearers will be members of East River Park Christian Church, members of the Path Finders Sunday School Class of East River Park Christian Church, and a special friend, Glenn Reynolds. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence, *** ***** ******, Elizabethton, at any time. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in memory of Mr. Hall to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 682, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
