William J. Brown, 70, of Fairmount, passed away Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Born in Syracuse, he lived in Fairmount since September 1971. Bill served 23 years in the Air Force, including 17 years with the 174th, retiring as a master sergeant. He retired in 2000 after 38 years with Niagara Mohawk and also worked eight years with Sam Rao Florist. A member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree since 1970, he was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a former member of the Holy Name Society. Bill was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, the former Donna Uhl, in 2009; brothers, Jim and John Brown; and sister, Chrissy Brown. Surviving are his sisters, Patricia Cericola of Lakeland and Mary Ellen Smith of Syracuse; nieces and nephews, Michael Cericola of Gulfport, MS, David Cericola of Lakeland, Jeff Cericola of Bainbridge Island, WA, Ann Cericola of Liverpool, Karen Cericola of Lakeland, Carol (Brown) Miller of Fulton and Cindy Tatem of Muscle Shoals, AL; several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; his beloved dog, Radar; and near and dear friends of Camillus, especially Bill and Bonnie Benware. Relatives and friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Bill will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery.
